Frequently Asked Questions
Freeze-drying, also known as lyophilization, is a process in which the food is flash frozen to temperatures as low as -50 deg C, the water in the form of ice is then removed using a vacuum in a process known as sublimation. This process has found many applications for the production of high-quality
food and pharmaceuticals.
The main advantage of freeze-dried technology is that the food retains its texture, appearance and taste while preserving up to 98% of its
nutrients. Another major advantage is that a very long shelf life can be achieved without the use of any preservative. This makes Freeze Drying much better than other methods of food preservation.
